Food Information - FIC (Labelling)

Here you can find legislation and guidance for food information (FIC) in the following areas:

  • the information that must be provided to the consumer about a food
  • not misleading the consumer with information on the label, packaging, advertising, websites, etc.

To see all our guidance and other related information, please visit our main labelling section.

While the FSAI Advice Line provides specific advice and support on the topic of food labelling, it does not however review, check or approve food labels for food businesses or consultants. Please do not send us food labels requesting this service. It is the responsibility of the food business owner to ensure compliance with food law by accessing the labelling information provided on our website and also through the European Commission’s Food Labelling Information System.

Please note: Having a nutrition declaration on prepacked foods became mandatory on 13 December 2016. There are some exemptions from this requirement. See section on nutrition labelling for more information.

Access all our eLearning modules as well as other training materials and resources on the FSAI Learning Portal.
