Message:
Functional Fitness and Nutrition Limited is recalling a batch of organic sesame seeds and its Organic Omega Seed Mix due to the presence of the pesticide ethylene oxide. This pesticide is not authorised for use in foods sold in the EU. Although the consumption of the contaminated sesame seeds does not pose an immediate risk to health, there may be health issues if there is continued consumption of ethylene oxide over a long period of time. Therefore, exposure to this substance must be minimised. The implicated sesame seeds and seed mix were sold loose at The Source Bulk Foods, Rathmines, Dublin 6 where a point-of-sale recall notice is on display.
