The Reformulation Task Force is a strategic partnership between the Food Safety Authority of Ireland and Healthy Ireland. It was established in late 2021 to implement the Roadmap for Food Reformulation in Ireland (2021-2025), a core element of Ireland’s Obesity Policy and Action Plan.
Ireland’s Food Reformulation Task Force Reformulation Programme is based on sound scientific evidence and research. The Task Force supports and monitors the reduction of selected nutrients (sugar, saturated fat, salt and energy (kcal)) in key food categories. High and unbalanced intakes of these nutrients or energy (kcal) are associated with serious negative impacts on public health; such as obesity, diabetes, coronary heart disease and stroke.
This report details the activities of the Task Force during its first year.
