The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) undertakes a number of surveys and publishes data in relation to its own activities and to those areas within its remit. In doing so, it values feedback from its stakeholders.
Policy making (external)
The FSAI is not directly involved in the development of national policy. It comes under the remit of the Department of Health which is responsible for policy development at that level.
Decision making (internal)
In the context of its statutory duties and the FSAI Strategy 2019-2023, the Board members operate as a collegiate body established to ensure that the FSAI is managed as a corporate entity. Reviewing all information available, it makes policy for its core responsibilities and ensures that decisions taken on that policy, strategic and management issues are taken collectively.
Expenditure reviews and policy assessments
The FSAI is subject to audit by the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General.
